Blind people are as independent and able as any seeing person. But I could imagine there are times when it would be helpful to be able to “borrow” someone’s eyes. A new app called Be My Eyes lets you do that, not literally of course. The way it works is Be My Eyes connects blind people to sighted via video chat, the blind person then holds whatever it is they need seen in front of their phone’s camera for the sighted person to identify. It might seem simple, but the best apps often are, and you can help someone see anything from milk expiration dates, to photos or even street signs. Be My Eyes is an easy way anyone can do their good deed for the day, and lend their eyes to someone in need.
