Traveling is great, except for the seemingly endless process where you and your possessions are scanned by airport security. But there are more efficient alternatives, and in the US they’re testing one called the Qylatron. It’s a honeycomb-style set of lockers that scan your bags in an instant. All you do is walk up to one, scan your ticket and slide your bag inside. Then, by the time you walk to the other side of the locker, your bag has already been cleared and is ready to go. It’s said to be three times faster than current systems. The new screening process would also cut back on racial profiling as it requires remote operators to look over the scanned bags, disallowing human eyes to make an association with any bag’s owner. The Qylatron has successfully tested at places like Disneyland Paris and the San Francisco 49ers Levi’s Stadium, and could just be the answer to fixing airport security.
