Nature is so clever, its ingenuity keeps amazing us. Perhaps you already knew of the folk remedy of drinking a warm glass of milk before bed to make you sleep better. Now, scientists in South Korea found out that cows milked at night actually produce milk that makes you sleepy. The milk collected at night contains high amounts of tryptophan and melatonin, nutrients proven to aid sleep and reduce anxiety. Elderly patients given night milk were found to have an improved quality of sleep. It all means that we might have found a new natural sleep aid, one that could replace or supplement sleeping pills which are known for its side effects. In addition, the researchers would also like to find out if the night milk could have an effect in the treatment of anxiety problems.
