One of the most prestigious law firms in the world is discovering the benefits of mindfulness. The lawfirm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), based in London and Sydney, has run over a dozen mindfulness programs over the past year, with “extraordinary” results, as is reported by Lawyers Weekly. Based on self-reported data, program participants experienced a 45% increase in focus, a 35% decrease in stress and a 35% increase in effectiveness. The mindfulness training sessions ran for between six to ten weeks and involved an hour and a half of training each week and ten minutes of practice each day. Lawyers typically work in a work in a high-pressured and stressful environment. The lawyers at HSF felt the mindfulness made them happier, calmer and also better at their jobs.
