Car companies want to sell cars. So, it’s not really in their interest when more and more people begin sharing their cars. This requires creative responses. Here’s one from General Motors: GM is rolling out a program called Express Drive starting in Chicago and expanding to Baltimore, Boston, and Washington, D.C., that lets Lyft drivers rent a Chevrolet Equinox sports utility vehicle for $99 a week. The program is GM’s latest move to get a piece of the growing market for ride-sharing services. GM bought a 9 percent stake in Lyft for $500 million in January to compete with Uber, the U.S.’ largest ride-sharing service.
