While the world economy grew 3.1 percent last year, greenhouse gas emissions remained flat, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). That’s encouraging news. Especially, since it is the second year in a row that we witness the same phenomenon. Last year the IEA reported that in 2014, for the first time in 40 years, there was a “decoupling” of economic growth and greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 world GDP grew 3.4 percent while greenhouse gas emissions did not. That promising trend has now been confirmed in 2015.
