Today’s Solutions: April 17, 2025

Apple’s eco-friendly efforts paid off as the tech-giant reclaimed nearly one metric ton of gold by recycling its own products in 2015. At current prices, that’s equivalent to around $40 million worth of gold. As well as the gold, the company recovered three tons of silver, and over 1,300 tons of copper. Apple’s Environmental Responsibility Report also shows packaging for the iPhone 6S is 20 percent lighter and 34 percent smaller than the box the first-generation iPhone came in. Additionaly, all of the company’s data centers run on renewable energy. These efforts have dropped Apple’s carbon emission every year since 2011, showing that sustainability is good for business.
