Fifteen million hypothermic babies are born every year around the world, including three million who die during the first month of life. Embrace has developed a tiny sleeping bag with proprietary technology that stabilizes the temperature of the newborn for 1.5 percent of the cost of regular incubator. The non-profit has reached just under 150,000 infants in 105 countries, and needs all the help it can get ramping up its reach. Hence the recent creation of its social for-profit arm: for each Little Lotus swaddle blanket bought in the first world, a Warmer will be given to a hospital or a family in a developing country. A remarkable story in progress.
