A year-long online survey “The rest test” that questioned 18,000 people in 134 countries shows –not so surprisingly—that most people feel they don’t get enough rest. The respondents reported on average 3 hours rest per day (besides sleep). The optimal amount of rest linked to a high sense of well-being was found to be 5-6 hours. Interestingly, when it comes to resting we don’t want to spend more time with friends. We prefer being by ourselves while resting. In other words: Most people ultimately need rest from people.
